Posted on February 1st, 2013This message is to notify you of the upcoming Downtown Streetscape Improvements open house on February 7, 2013 hosted at the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce Board Room from 5:30-7:00 p.m. This is a drop in format and no formal presentation is planned. Athens-Clarke County has contracted with T.Y. Lin International to scope and design infrastructure improvements in Downtown Athens.
What
An opportunity for the general public to provide input on
downtown infrastructure improvements (water main, sanitary
sewer, drainage and streetscape). Project representatives
from T.Y. Lin and the ACC SPLOST department will be on site
to discuss concerns and expectations with those wishing to
provide input. The improvements are being funded by 2005
SPLOST dollars.

About
Athens-Clarke County has contracted with T.Y. Lin
International to conduct infrastructure improvements
(utilities and streetscape) in Downtown Athens. Phase One
will focus on East Clayton Street (from Lumpkin St. to Thomas
St., including Wall Street) and North Jackson Street (From
Washington St. to Broad St.). Streetscape improvements will
take into account the engineering and design requirements
from The National Association of City Transportation
Officials’ Complete Streets Urban Street
Design Guide, ACC Corridor Management Strategy, Downtown
Athens Historic Design Guidelines, the on-going Downtown
Master Plan and property/business owner and stakeholder
